Some of you saw it in the theaters and some of you have seen it at home, but I think we can all agree, we at least know about the movie Paranormal Activity. The movie, which is the newest addition to the Blair Witch style of film-making, features a young couple being disturbed by a demonic force in their home. Check out the official movie trailer below:

The film cost 7 grand to create and wound up making over 100 million in the US box office. The basic debate with this movie is either it sucked or it scared the shit out of you. For me, it worked on both levels.

So, for the first time ever on this hate filled blog, we are going to have a movie debate. Did you hate this film? Or did it scare the bejesus out of you?

For me, I am split. The film had some truly scary moments and made the hairs on the back of my neck stand stiff as a board. But I guess my main problem with the film is that the boyfriend has to be the worst boyfriend in film history. Why does he insist on making the situation ten times worse? I know for a fact… my girlfriend would have slit my throat the moment I walked in with a Ouija board in regards to any situation. That would have made for a way shorter movie.

Also, seriously, if a demon really wanted to screw with you, he is going to do a lot more than throw your keys on the ground and slam the door. I think I would have been happier if the demon in question had turned out to be a satanic alien. Or imagine if the demon had ultimately turned out to be a disgruntled elf from Santa’s workshop?

I guess I just really wanted the boyfriend to get his ass kicked a hell of a lot earlier in the movie than he did. There were some other things I would have changed about the movie in order to make parts of the movie NOT suck… i.e the ending in particular. One more thing, the alternate ending was bullshit too- you can view it here on Youtube if you’re interested.

But still, it had its moments, and in the end… it made me nervous to go to bed.

So I guess, it did something right.
