Surprise surprise, the teenage girl that wanted to sail around the world by herself has run into a snag. 16-year-old Abby Sunderland, who is attempting to be the youngest person to ever sail around the world, might have to settle for wettest teen that didn’t result in criminal charges.

How much did the pirate pay for his peg-leg and hook? An arm and a leg...
Abby lost contact for the past 20 hours in the Indian Ocean and her parents feared the worst- that she had given up and moved to India. Due to high waves, her mast was destroyed and her communication system was ruined. She was able to put out a distress call and Australia has a knack for running out for 16-year-old American girls in trouble.
Now fleets of ships are off to get her out of the water just in time for her to see the opening weekend of Eclipse. I wish someone would have the balls and just sail right past her and give her the finger and keep sailing away. Just to teach this dumb bitch a lesson.
How the hell are the parents not in jail? Who lets their daughter do this shit? I don’t care how much she was stomping her feet around the house and threatening to date a black guy… you have to say no at this point. The sad part is her brother, who is a year older, has already completed this mission of sailing around the world.
His secret? Guys are better sailors plain and simple.

I guess she wanted to be the next Amelia Earhart: try to reenact what a man had already done and then fail miserably at it.

@Meranda, You’re right she is only a kid. Why did her parents let her do something so reckless? I’m thinking the balloon boy’s parents need to step aside: we have a new challenger for parents of the year!

I admire Abby Sunderland. She is such a heroic youthful lady. Been able to travel alone in extremely hazardous seas for achieving her target. Too awful she got an accident and could not finish her journey.

@Wiley Reck, What did she do that was heroic? Granted what she was attempting to do would have been neat, but heroic? Our men in the military that are risking their lives to protect us, those are heroes. Scientists and doctors that dedicate their lives to cure disease are heroes. Don’t sully the title of hero. This is just a girl with irresponsible parents that allowed their daughters life to be at stake while wasting a lot of tax payer money.

what were her parents thinking sending their kid by themselves in the indian ocean. what if she drifted to somalia or got picked up by any pirate out there. the ocean is not exactly the safest place in the world. her parents are at fault not abby. she should be taken away from her family for her parents negligence of her safety
